Before Jerry Rice became one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history, he was catching something very different... bricks. Growing up in Mississippi, Rice helped his father with bricklaying work. He and his brothers caught bricks thrown through the air, and dropping one could cost them part of the day's pay. That work ethic followed him to football. Despite playing Division I-AA, Rice set 18 records, became a first-round pick after the 49ers traded up for him, and went on to build a legendary career. 20 seasons. More than 22,000 receiving yards. Over 200 touchdowns. Three Super Bowl rings. And even after reaching the top, he kept training alone. This is one of four incredible stories behind my 49ers Mount Rushmore, featuring Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Steve Young and Ronnie Lott. Jerry Rice Used to Catch BRICKS Before the NFL 😳
Steve Young had the talent to become an NFL star, but behind the scenes, he was battling something much harder than football. He struggled with anxiety, questioned whether he deserved his paychecks, and even considered walking away from the game. Despite having an opportunity to become a starter elsewhere, he stayed in San Francisco and learned behind Joe Montana. That decision helped lead to two NFL MVP awards, three Super Bowl titles, and a Hall of Fame career. But what did Steve Young do before becoming a 49ers legend? The full story is in my 49ers Mount Rushmore video, alongside Ronnie Lott, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. Watch the full video! #nfl #steveyoung #49ers #sanfrancisco49ers #nflhistory #footballlegends
Steve Young Almost Quit Football Before Becoming a Legend 😳
Ronnie Lott made a decision in December 1985 that showed just how much football meant to him. After crushing his pinky finger during a tackle, he chose amputation over months away from the game. But the story gets even crazier. The following season, Lott led the entire NFL with 10 interceptions. Years later, he admitted he regretted that decision. There's more to this story than the toughness legend fans remember. Lott was one of four 49ers legends featured in my 49ers Mount Rushmore, alongside Joe Montana, Steve Young and Jerry Rice. Watch the full video and tell me who belongs on your list! #nfl #RonnieLott #49ers #sanfrancisco49ers #nflhistory #footballlegends
